The Reverend Dwight D. Gill, Senior Servant
To Teach and Preach the word of God.
The Reverend Dwight Darnell Gill was born in Louisburg, North Carolina, the youngest of four children to (the late) Ruffin and Lois Mae Gill.
He earned his elementary and secondary education in the newly integrated Franklin County School System. He then went on to attend the Louisburg Junior College for two years, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree.
Rev. Gill is married to the former Bonnie Satterwhite, and together they have three daughters, Joy (her husband, Rickey Smith, Jr.), Ashley and Morgan; three granddaughters, Hope, Faith and Grace and one grandson, Elijah.
In 1981, Rev. Gill was called to preach the gospel, he was ordained by the Middle Baptist Association in Henderson, North Carolina. In 1987, he became the Pastor of Cedar Rock Baptist Church in North Carolina, until 1993.
In August of 1993, Rev. Gill became Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church of East Orange. He still believes that as he stays in the will of God there is no mountain one can’t move or climb; to keep God as your guide, Jesus as the example and the Holy Spirit as your power while moving from “Mission to Ministry”. He is still dedicated, still devoted and still guided by God, while serving in this his 20th year.
As God has chosen Rev. Gill to continue his “walk” pastoring here at NHBC, he continues to teach and preach the word of God. The church has numerous ministries that include support groups, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and lending a helping hand to those less fortunate. The church has grown in leaps and bounds, with a membership of over 2,200 and conducts three worship services every Sunday. NHBC celebrates its’ 39th year, this year, and has always been obedient to the word of God.
Under Rev. Gill’s direction and guidance, the members at NHBC know, understand and believe that Christian work is a shared labor of love, in God’s name we can accomplish all; simply because, God is good, all the time!
